Worst Dressed Diva Of The Week: Christina Aguilera

It was no surprise that Christina Aguilera made my worst dressed list this week. She was a complete train wreck from head to toe. Honestly, her casual ensemble wasn't that bad but her hair and make-up was a disaster therefore they ruined the whole look.

Prop 10 Goons At It Again With Baby Killer Ad

(h/t Dondero)

Reminiscent of the sleazy, fearmongering Daisy ad that made Goldwater lose in a landslide, this toe-tagged baby implies that if the broke-ass State of California decides to re-allocate Prop 10 money they're murdering kids. The ad comes from The Child Abuse Prevention Center who can't seem to realize that their agency is going to have to take budget cuts like everybody else. Didn't The Obama himself say we were going to have to make sacrifices? But like any special interest group that knows what's best to do with your money, they speak from the vantage point of supreme moral authority. From SFGate:
Sheila Boxley, president and CEO of the Sacramento County organization, said the campaign is not too provocative.

"Quite frankly, I believe that will be the impact," she said. "The net outcome is certainly the potential of children dying."
Some historical context of Prop. 10 is necessary to understand why the people who put out this ad are nanny-state creeps. In 1998, a host of Hollywood busybodies (led by Rob "Meathead" Reiner") rode a wave of anti-smoking sentiment sweeping the nation to get a proposition on the California ballot (Prop 10), which eventually passed. It increased the tax on cigarettes 50 cents a pack to fund a bunch of "Please Think of the Children!" type bureaucracies run by Rob Reiner's friends who didn't know what the fuck they were doing with all this no-accountability money.

These elitists never want to tax the vices of the rich (puffy director pants, Tofurkey at Whole Foods, and whatever the fuck else these people are into) but go after smoking (mostly a working class addiction) and now their ilk on the east coast have their sights on pop for the rest of the country (ambrosia for red state types). So, just like the funding of S-Chip by cigarette excise taxes, the yellow-teethed grandma puffing away on Newport 100s is now the cash cow for a host of child services and I guess is not a "baby killer". So that's the political conundrum you get when you have a state government taking money from one group of people and giving it another under the guise of regulating human behavior: dead baby ads.

During the Clinton days, you couldn't turn on AM radio without hearing about Janet Reno and her ATF stormtroopers burning down your house Waco-style if you were a member of the NRA. However, that anti-guv'mint movement sort of petered out when Bush got elected and 9/11 happened. But with the Tea Parties churning out legions of protesters and some perceived federal overreach in domestic affairs, you starting to see articles like this one at PJs:
Obama himself, far from the bipartisan spirit promised — indeed, even the respect expected from the officeholder — mocks opposing opinions. He did it recently by ridiculing those who listen to Rush Limbaugh and he did it during his “town hall” meeting in Arnold, Missouri, to mark his first 100 days. He cast tea party participants as those “waving tea bags around.” His assertion then that he would be happy to have a “conversation” about federal spending and his warning that while “we have to tighten belts, [we] have to do it in an intelligent way” were audacious displays of disdain for Americans in light of his midnight-3:00 p.m. push-through of the “stimulus” bill. Does he think we have forgotten how much time he gave Congress to sign a bill over a thousand pages long — and after promising five days for public review of all bills? In light of the events of just the first 100 days, we should be worried.
This type of rhetoric attracts a few crazies out there, but it's valid to be concerned over the massive increase in the federal government's power (and Obama has upped it quite a bit). Unfortunately, the GOP (supposedly the party of limited government and fiscal responsibility) completely failed while they were running the country and actually spent wildly, increasing the already monstrous debt under Bush. So who knows if this grass roots type boilerplate gets turned into productive political action to prevent America from going the way of the Weimar Republic or we get stupid red herring issues like saving human vegetables designed to cater to moral absolutist types.

Sadr's Back! Rest of the World Could Care Less

A long, long time ago (2008), any half-assed proclamation from Moqtada Al-Sadr whipping up his Mahdi Army would have been big news from the media. But after the Mahdi Army was crushed militarily and his political apparatus lost bad in the provincial elections, Sadr has become the Rodney Dangerfield of the Middle East. I saw a quick post from Gateway Pundit noting that Sadr was going to chat with Turkey's Prime Minister and President, but the only media outlet I could find with any interest was AFP. It's kind of like if Crystal Pepsi got re-introduced into the market, nobody gives a shit, which is rational because he's powerless. Here's Sadr being portrayed by John Malkovich:

Clinton Foundation's Millennium Network Event

Kerry Washington looks wonderful as always. I love the detail on the neckline of her fabulous dress.

Jessica Alba looks so refreshing in this coral Lanvin ensemble. The clear paillettes detail on the skirt is simply divine. I also adore her purple pop of color peep-toe Christian Louboutin's peep-toe platforms.

Caracals just have to be different

What are you trying to prove, Caracal? THERE IS A BASIC CAT TEMPLATE THAT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW. Ears are only allowed to be so different. There's regular cat ears and folded cat ears. Occasionally, you can have frog eyes for ears (only if you're good). That's fucking it, Caracal. There is nothing in the cat guidelines that allows for custom whale-tails with permed ear-hair. Maybe if it looked a little better I could let it slide. Are you trying to get television reception with those things? Don't even try to flatter me with the come hither look, either, I'm not falling for it. The last time they let a cat get away with some radical shit this happened. Not on my watch, buddy, NOT ON THIS BLOG'S WATCH.
