The Yankees got beat in their own house by a division rival tonight. Not exactly the way I want to start the last home stand before the All-Star break...how about you?

Bartolo Colon was lost tonight as my buddy who was at the game told me. 5.2 innings, allowing 10 hits and 5 runs. Not exactly the Colon we know and love. Tonight wasn't his night and that stinks, but more importantly, these games against the division teams are the games you have to win. While I'm not going to hammer Colon for blowing it, I will say this, it can't happen again...not against the Rays, not against the evil Red Sox and not even against the Blue Jays. Luckily, the bullpen held things down, the problem was the Yankees only scored 1 run...that's it.(Photo: New York Times)
The Captain was 1 for 5 tonight with a nice double and ended the game on a tough roller to third base but was pegged at first. Jeter is up to 2998. After that out, my 8 year old looked at me and said "Jeter stinks right now." I just laughed. Clearly the stress of this is affecting everyone.
Not a whole lot to report tonight, like I stated, Colon was off and apparently so were the Yankee bats. I won't bore you with the details, It's just a loss and now we need to reach back and win the next three against a tough team of division rivals... that's it.
Final Score: Rays 5 - Yankees 1. I'm going to bed.
