Geez, where were the bats tonight? No hit through 7 innings and then it was finally starting. Took long enough. In the past few weeks, winning was just like breathing for the Yankees. They were doing it like crazy as part of their daily routine. Then, suddenly, both the Mets and Indians have come from behind wins to beat the Yankees 2 days in a row.
Josh Tomlin pitched really well for Cleveland and finally, Mark Teixeira broke up his no hit bid and later Nick Swisher knocked a double to score Cano to make it 2-0. It didn't last long, Burnett couldn't keep the Indians from hitting.
Burnett pitched 7 innings today giving up 4 hits and 4 runs. He had 6 strikeouts and drops his record to 8-7. Overall, not terrific, not horrible, just Burnett.
2 former Yankees beat up Burnett today, one was a bigger blow than the other. Shelley Duncan had a run scoring single. Austin Kearns hit a three run homer. It figures, Kearns did practically nothing in pinstripes, of course he homers against us today. That's baseball, isn't it?Congrats to Curtis Granderson who hit yet another home run today, this one was a solo shot, but a homer none the less. And I told you, I TOLD YOU Grandy would start hitting them again. Players feed off of each other and Tex was and still is hot. Tex hit some homers recently and now Granderson is hitting them again too. You have to love it.
Derek Jeter had no hits tonight, so our Captain is still 6 hits away from 3000. Don't get all crazy though, he just got back into the lineup. Give him a game or 2 to get into a groove. He will and when he does, we will all smile ear to ear, trust me.
Final Score tonight: Indians 6 - Yankees 3. Yuk.
