Yes, it's April. I understand that. But going to Fenway Park at any time of year is very serious business. It doesn't matter that the evil Red Sox are 0-6... It's going to be a fight regardless... it always is.
Now, right now, to Boston fans, 0-6 is the end of the world. They don't even see it's April, they see death. They just can't believe their team sucks so bad. They've already given up early and have no use for their guys quickly. That's the way they operate. But to us Yankee fans, there's only thing on our mind right now... bury the Sox this weekend and make those fans feel worse.Look, it's the beginning of the season. No one really expects the Red Sox to suck like this all year. Trust me, I wish they would, it's a great story. All the world has them as a lock for the World Series against the Phillies... I actually see the Yankees playing the Reds, but what the hell do I know? The point is, the Yankees have 1 mission this weekend, sweep the Red Sox and make them hurt. It's not going to be easy. Our starter is Phil Hughes tonight, whom by the way, needs a confidence boost. The problem is, if his velocity is not up and his focus is down, Girardi's got to attack fast. That means, cut Hughes early and go to our stockpile of starters to shut them down. So, don't be surprised if you will see pitchers like Colon, or Garcia coming in early if Hughes can't handle it. The last thing we want in Boston are the wheels fall off early.
Then again, Alex, Derek, Tex and the gang are comfortable in Fenway Park. Even Granderson has had some success there. They're not intimidated and offense, while it doesn't ONLY win ballgames, can definitely HELP win ballgames, if for instance, the pitching shits the bed.
One things for sure, there's nothing wrong with aiming high when you play the Sox. Asking for a sweep like I am, isn't out of the ordinary for a die hard Yankee fan like me... getting it, of course, is much much sweeter. Kick some Sox ass tonight Gentlemen...attack.
