It was a good day for New York Yankees fans, four home runs in Fenway Park is a good thing, especially when it comes from Yankees and new comer and now fan favorite Russell Martin, who hit 2. What can you say about this kid, except that, yes, he's the real deal. Granderson, who always seems comfy in Boston, cranked one out and so did Robbie Cano, who's on his way to a batting title. Yes, I'm being over dramatic because it's April, but am I really? I mean, if you think about it, Cano has really taken the reigns on this Yankee team and become a leader, following the lead of greats like Jeter and A-Rod. It's nice to see.

Nova did OK, and Girardi was Girardi, pulling Nova in the fifth after giving up 7 hits and 4 runs. The issue with Nova, wasn't ONLY Nova but Cano and his trouble with a double play toss from Jeet. If he handled that flip, they would have gotten out of the 4th with a double play and all would have been wonderful. 2 batters later though, Pedroia knocked them in. Luckily, that's where it ended for Boston. More on that in a moment.

A few shoutouts in today's game. First, I have to go to my man Eric Chavez. Chavez knew he was going to get a bench job with the Yankees when he signed with them but wanted a job, and accepted. Look, alot of people don't remember Chavez early on with Oakland, but for those who don't, quite simply, he was a monster there. Good hitter, good fielder and a great teammate. The problem was injury, and that literally killed his career for a short time. This opportunity to play with the Yankees was huge for him and it showed today. Not only did he hit, he did it 3 times and he didn't let pressure from the Yanks-Sox rivalry get to him. He just went up and hacked it. First at bat the kid gets a hit. You have to love that.
Secondly, with all the talk of the Three Headed Monster in Joba, Soriano and Mo, not much is being talked about when it comes to David Robertson. He's kind of flying under the radar, but the reality is, Robertson is a good kid with great stuff and we tend to forget that. Today, David Robertson came in and got Adrian Gonzalez out. That was the end of the Sox scoring today. and the Red Sox never scored again. Bravo David, Bravo.
Final Score today, Yankees 9 - Red Sox 4. Tomorrow is the rubber game between CC Monster (0-0 1.38 era) and Beckett (0-1 5.40 era). The Yankees own Beckett, but one thing is for sure, you have to respect him, every once in a while he throws a gem, so we have to be ready.
Sabathia, in his last performance looked quite good. Unfortunately his great effort was washed away with a blown game by Soriano. That being said, I bet Sabathia goes longer and makes sure that win is his tomorrow.
Night game tomorrow, 8pm, ESPN. Win the series Yankees, win the series.
