WHY WE ALL NEED TO SLOW DOWN

(Photo: AP)
Right now the Yankees are in some turmoil. A six game losing streak, and the Jorge Posada saga are the culprits of the struggle. The Yankees inexplicably lost two straight to the Royals, and three more in against the rival Boston Red Sox--all at home. Now they lose yet another, this time to the Rays. It seems like the Yankees have found different ways to lose games of late. Sometimes they get a great starting pitching performance and the bullpen blows it. A lot of times the Yankees can't get a hit with runners in scoring position to save their lives. Right now everyone is getting a little tense. I don't think many people are panicking, but they're definitely worried. But I say everyone needs to take a deep breath and slow down a bit.

During this six game losing streak, the Yankees have had a very tough time with hitting with runners in scoring position. The numbers are dreadful and the hitting is worse. Also, the defense has been pretty bad as well, committing several errors, and allowing many unearned runs to cross the plate, something that is not acceptable. Casey said it best, they're the Bad News Bears.
But despite all of this, I believe the Yankees will snap out of it. I really do. Of course, they eventually will, there is 124 games left. I bet it will happen here very shortly, maybe even tonight's game against the Rays. Yes they look bad, but we are the Yankees and I believe we are about to explode for the better. I think getting on the road will eventually be a positive for this team, and especially playing against a foe who has been good the last several years. We may have lost last night, but we should spark at any moment. Yes, everyone said that when they were opening the series against the Red Sox this past weekend, it was going to be a big series, well, that didn't happen, but believe me, they will be back to playing good baseball.

The Yankees have had trouble with RISP, but with that being said, you know they're getting guys on base, they just need that one extra clutch hit to get a rally going. Bottom line, you've got to believe. I do.

Two guys I'm especially looking at in turning this funk around is Alex Rodriguez and Nick Swisher. Rodriguez has made a number of big outs with RISP of late. And Swisher is batting 0/17 with two out and RISP. Those two guys, along with everyone else in the lineup not named Curtis Granderson, has to, and will turn this around.I never said it was going to be easy turning this around, as the Yankees continue this stretch of facing good pitching, they'll continue by facing James Shields tonight. I'm really hoping Nova comes back strong after his last outing and I'm right on this one, because the Red Sox are creeping closer in the standings, and the Yankees have to take advantage of the Rays recent struggles. Today's a new day... LET'S GO YANKEES!
