2009 BET Awards: The Press Room

Alicia Keys looks amazing in another sparkling Jenny Packham mini dress. She was just glowing all night!

I can't get enough of Letoya Luckett. She looks absolutely fabulous in this silver draped dress paired with stunning crystal multi statement necklace.

Ciara wore a custom made black and gold sequined jacket honoring Michael Jackson.

I have three sisters and they will tell me truth even if it hurts my feelings but it's for my own good. Why couldn't Erica Campbell from Mary Mary tell her sister Tina Campbell that she looks a hot mess? Why is Tina in those tight leather pants that emphasis her hips to no end? Erica Campbell needs to be a shame of herself for letting her sister out of the house looking a hot mess!

Even though this feathered printed dress is a little too busy for my taste, Trina looks great and she covering up herself for once!

Sheree Whitfield, Lisa Wu Hartwell, Nene Leaks and new member Kandi Burruss
The Real Housewives of Atlanta all look wonderful but I swear that Sheree and Nene always look like female impersonators!

The Light At the End of a Longass Tunnel

IPs in Basra (photo NYT)

After their entire means of enforcing law and order was dismantled in a poor decision by Bremer, the Iraqis are finally in charge of their own security. It's a bit odd that the New York Times chooses to cast the "celebratory" tone of this Iraqi accomplishment in a bad light:
In the past few weeks, nationalist sentiments have spread within the Iraqi government and military, with officials all but boasting that Iraq is ready to handle the security situation on its own.

Speaking as a military parade marking the event was held deep inside the heavily fortified Green Zone, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki said, “The national united government succeeded in putting down the sectarian war that was threatening the unity and the sovereignty of Iraq.”
A strong sense of nationalism seems to be one of the best methods of ethno-sectarian rivalry, both in Iraq and elsewhere, and doesn't necessarily mean that the Fourth Reich is coming back to power. Danger Room is also skeptical of this spirit, but it's good news for the Iraqis...and our military! They've still got bullshit to deal with in other godforesaken countries and dwindling resources to get the job done. Mission almost accomplished.

2009 BET Awards: The Show

The 2009 BET Awards dedicated the whole show to honor the music icon Michael Jackson. When Janet Jackson walked on stage, I finally realized that the great Michael Jackson is gone.

I admire her strength and courage for facing the public only a few days after her brother's death. Her short speech was heart felt and moving. It wasn't a dry eye in the audience.

What stuck with me the most is when she emotionally said " To you, Michael Jackson is an Icon but to us, he is family". We may joke about Michael nose or skin color but we have to realize he and the Jackson family are human just like we are and they are hurting deeply right now and we need to continue to pray for them in these trying times.

Of course Beyonce had to bring on the theatrics and drama! She also did a moving performance singing "Ave Maria" dedicated to Michael Jackson. I really don't know what this wedding dress ensemble was all about. Say what you want to say about Beyonce, she will give you a great performance every time.

First New Edition with Bobby Brown open the show singing Jackson 5 tunes then crazy Jamie Foxx came out in my favorite Michael Jackson ensemble dancing to "Beat It". It was many other wonderful performances to honor the King of Pop.

The show closed with my baby Maxwell. He looked scrumptious as always in a striped suit singing his first single off his album "Pretty Wings".

Power To the People

From the always on-point Attack Cartoons

Lest we forget about the plight of Iranians during a barrage of croaked celebrities, it's very difficult to exercise any rights when the government has the ability to overpower its citizens with force. The Second Amendment enables the government to be perpetually afraid and mindful of its people and not the other way around. Certainly, non-violent demonstrations (MLK, Gandhi) are ideal, but in some cases, the people may have no other options. Shit, our country chucked the king out on his ass with violence for taxes that would seem benign nowadays. Look at what the Iranians have to deal with on a daily basis.

Welcome to internet 2.0

I'm back, people, and the site is better than ever! This new site relaunch may have cost a little more money than I wanted to spend, but it just looks so nice that I had to take advantage of it. I mean, let's face it, Blogger was state of the art when I began the site in 2008, but hosting your site on your own registered domain is some next generation shit.

Initially, I wanted the site to really focus on the animals, because that's what it's all about. But as the site has slowly become more and more relevant in the computer programming community, I knew I had to kick it up a notch. Now that I've revolutionized the blogging cutting edge by promoting myself on Facebook, Twitter, and Kronk (this will be huge in 2010, if you can't see the link, you aren't cool enough to hear about the site yet), I needed a great home site to serve as part blog/part social networking site/part multimedia poetry vanguard. And here it is. Stunning. Modern. Forever FUPenguin.com.

I do have to apologize to people who do not yet have Firefox 6, as the site isn't really maximized with the earlier versions, and you may be missing out on a lot of the special features available on the site.

2009 BET Awards: Best Dressed Divas

Zoe Saldana
looks stunning in this white one-shouldered Calvin Klein cut-out dress paired with equally stunning gray buckled Brian Atwood platforms. She is pure perfection from head to toe.

The gorgeous Alicia Keys was honored for raising millions of dollars for her charity "Keep A Child Alive" providing medication for children with aids.

She looks fabulous in this mint embellished sheer sleeves Jenny Packman mini dress.

Ciara is letting me have it in this delicious chocolate leather(I know it's too hot for leather) with ruffles cascading down the side strapless Cynthia Steffe dress paired with nude peep-toes. Talking about Va Va Voom!

Adrienne Bailon looks spectacular in this ice blue folded strapless dress paired with fabulous Camilla Skovgaard's ankle buckled sandals.

I really expected more from Estelle. Even though this look is a little too subdue for her, she looks absolutely adorable in this denim ribbed Acne strapless ensemble with her Michael Jackson white one glove.

Amerie looks chic as ever in this amazing white drape open back Alexander Wang dress paired with my favorite black Alexander McQueen peep-toe ankle boots.

I know Tyra Banks
looks like she is going to the office but I love this look. The pouf sleeve blouse and vest are divine.

I have to admit that I hate this gaudy embellished Balmain dress but for some reason it works on LeToya Luckett. Her silver Alexander McQueen shoes are a little too much though.

I didn't know Keke Palmer could sing? She looks cute in this black and silver embellished mini dress. Gosh, she could pass for a young Angela Bassett.

Granted Wendy Raquel Robinson is way over dressed for this occasion, she looks beautiful in this gold and mauve embellished dress. She could had saved this dress for the NACCP Awards.

Omarosa looks cute in this fuchsia poufy embellished dress. I normally don't like a lot of weave but in her case, she needs some because her hair looks so thin and lifeless.

2009 BET Awards: Worst Dressed Divas

I really try to like this multi colored sequined Balmain dress on Beyonce but it just didn't work out for me. It just look so tacky and the turquoise earrings and purple t-straps sandals didn't help it at all. The dress is already gaudy so why add more gaudy accessories?

I do give her points for trying to give homage to Micheal Jackson with the glitter.

I am dying to know what you guys think, please make a comment just to express your opinions on my best and worst dressed list.

I love Taraji P. Henson but this black jersey one-shouldered Kaufman Franco dress is just too damn hot for summer.

I couldn't believe her hideous mullet hair let alone her horrendous tattoo.

I think Keri Hilson is adorable but this multi colored printed dress along with her hair is just a disaster for me.

I find it hard to believe that Elise Neal actually got out of bed and decided to wear this miscellaneous ensemble to an award show. The only thing interested about this outfit is her silver heart statement necklace.

Talking about a hot mess from head to toe! Cassie needs to sit her no talent skinny tale down somewhere. I kind of feel sorry for her for trying so hard to be Rihanna!

It wouldn't be a worst dressed list without Lil Mama. She actually does not look that bad in this black jumper paired with a cute wide belt and red clutch but her hair is atrocious as usual.

Did Toccara Jones think she was going to a cook- out instead of an award show? I make more effort going to the grocery store!

LisaRaye's black and ivory beaded printed dress looks she order it from one of those cheesy catalogs. It's just not sophisticated!

I am not sure what Tatyana Ali's bronze embroidered beaded dress is all about? She is young and fabulous so why dress like a fifty year old?

Niecy Nash 'Solid Gold' lame ruched dress is cute maybe for the club but not for an award show.

Besides being over dress, Terri J. Vaughn black strapless dress is boring me to tears. Where is the drama?
