WHY SWISHER SHOULD BE BACK

This is my piece giving my thoughts of why Nick Swisher should still be part of the New York Yankees in 2011. I have a different opinion than my BYB Contributor "Donnie Baseball". He wrote WHY HE’S WERTH EVERY PENNY on Friday.

Nick Swisher should stay a New York Yankee. Man, I love Jayson Werth. He's a bad ass, he's clutch and he's is exactly what the New York Yankees need. But Swish is a different ballplayer and the reason is because he's very special. Look, Nick's not a great outfielder but gets the job done. His power is great and I love that he's a switch hitter. People forget this but back when he was with the Oakland A's, He and Eric Chavez we're the dudes. They were unstoppable, minus, Chavez injury. Then, when Nick went to Chicago in a mid-season trade, he was horrible for the White Sox. That, for some reason gave the dude a black eye in baseball. He was washed up, he lost a step... I heard it all day long. It was kind of unfair. When Cash needed an outfielder in the off season, he jumped at signing Swish. Cash saw something and for the past 2 years it paid off. Swish can be clutch. And look, no one's perfect, he may not be the best rightfielder but he dies trying. Swisher's fun, he brings the clubhouse to life. Hell, there is even a huge force behind a campaign called We want Nick Swisher to host SNL . If you haven't voted yet please do. Any way, the bottom line is Swisher should stay in pinstripes. Why wouldn't he? For team morale, he's perfect. Financially, it's genius. There isn't any reason he shouldn't, plus, Why in the world would the Yankees dump $50 million or more on another outfielder when they are in hunt for big bad Cliff Lee. Plus, they want a lefty relief pitcher, and who knows what else. They need that money and holding on to Swisher is cheap and a smarter move. Werth, while I love the guy, ain't worth it. Do your thing Cash, do your thing.
