The New York Yankees are good. You know that right? They are really good and ever since I was a kid, watching them was a joy for me. Yes, it's true, even when we stunk to high heaven, they were my New York Yankees and eventually they dug themselves out of that rut and by 1996, the whole thing started again where 1978 left off. Now, after 2009, we long for more and more and don't look now, but the Yankees are coming...again. With a sweep today of the Blue Jays and CC's 19th win, the Yankees are 1.5 games ahead of the Boston Red Sox. We're in first place Ladies and Gentleman and closing in on another championship.

CC looked tremendous today, 7.1 innings pitched, he allowed 6 hits but he only gave up 2 runs and struck out 10. He also only walked 1. The Blue Jays were just 1-8 with runners in scoring position against CC Monster. Wow.
Jesus Montero has started hitting having 2 singles today and going 2 for 3. It didn't take long so I'm glad to see he's adjusting. Look, I believe young blood can help energize a ball club and I wrote about it in WHY MONTERO WILL STIMULATE THE YANKEES. It's the little things. Believe me, they'll prove big later when the Yankees start rolling, so good for Jesus today.
The Captain has 5 RBI's today. How sweet is that? I'm still waiting for the sports media guys to come out and apologize for being a bunch of worriers and just burying Jeter in the back of the sports pages suggesting Jeter was finished. Chasing Records did, but that's not enough. The main sports writers need to. Jeter's not, nor will he be done this season. We here at Bleeding Yankee Blue were saying it all along. Why? Because we're fans and we go with or hearts. We believe in Jeet because Jeet believes in Jeet. So... good for Jeet! He also had a 3 run homer today which can't be ignored considering he rarely gets them these days.
Alex Rodriguez hit a nice homer today, his 15th of the year. It was a nice shot and hopefully once Alex gets going, it will be just in time for the playoffs. I long for the days of a hot Alex Rodriguez during the playoffs again... just like 2009. He was amazing, who can forget it.(Photo: AP)
Nick Swisher continues his hot, hot hitting crushing a 2 run home run in the 8th. I'll tell you what, at the end of this season, Nick Swisher can walk if the Yankees don't pick up his option in 2012. I can't imagine right field not being manned by Swisher, but the reality is, he may not be back. Hell, if the Yankees can sign Swisher to a 1 year deal at a reasonable price, I'd take the guy again, he's been nothing but great for the Yankees on the field and in the clubhouse. We just need him hot during the playoffs. If he is hot in October, I would love the guy back.
Final Score today: Yankees 9 - Blue Jays 3.
Nice sweep, next up...The Orioles, Freddy Garcia's on the mound tomorrw at 1:05pm. Let's go Chief!
