THAT'S HOW YOU HONOR YANKEE HISTORY

Winning. It's always good to pull out a win on such a beautiful day in baseball. The greats were all on hand and honored and when the 2011 Yankees took the field, you could feel it, it was going to be a good day.

The Yankees won today and took the series against the Rockies. With the hot hitting of Nick Swisher and Jorge Posada, there was no looking back. We were on a mission today, it was clear. We needed to honor the greats, salute them, tip our caps and say "We play the game and root for our team because of all you guys. Thank you."

The 5th inning was magical. Robinson Cano broke up Juan Nicasio's perfect game with a single, that was quickly followed up with a homer by Nick Swisher to make it 3-2 and the Poe Poe nailed one to tie it 3-3. Those guys have reached their rhythm point, thank goodness.

Mark Teixeira has reached 23 home runs with another this afternoon. It's been quiet between Tex and Granderson but I suspect the New York Yankees home run race is about to gear up again, Tex has hit a homer in 2 straight games.Ivan Nova allowed 6 hits and 4 runs in his 6 innings of work. He struck out 4. Nova did good today, and I'm proud of the kid.

Of course, there's always something I don't like. Eduardo Nunez committed yet another error in the first inning. Luckily, he later fixed that mistake by hitting an RBI single to break the 4-4 tie in the 7th inning.

Final Score: Yankees 6 - Rockies 4

Overall, a good game Bombers. Enjoy the day off tomorrow and we'll catch you Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers, should be fun.
