WHY THIS GAME WAS IMPORTANT

“It was a big one for us today to get that W at home. It’s been a while."
-- AJ Burnett
Last night was the way the Yankees were supposed to play. A great pitching performance by AJ Burnett and great offense and suddenly, know one remembers the crappy 2-1 loss from Friday.AJ went 7 innings and looked terrific last night and didn't give the Mets much at all. As for the Yankees, well, Mark Teixeira homered for his 3rd straight game, and you need to hope that this guy gets into a true rhythm now because we need him.Alex Rodriguez also cranked one out along with teammates Russell Martin and Curtis Granderson and suddenly the Subway Series is tied 1 game to 1.

Critics have been blasting Derek Jeter since Posada-gate, lumping him in the "old and washed up" category since he defended Jorge's aggravation last week. I find this unfair, and that being said, Jeter's still been chugging along, having 2 more two hits last night and scoring twice.

An interesting fact too, because of my love for Rickey Henderson. Jeter got his 326th career stolen base, tying Hall of Famer Henderson for the Yankees’ record.

All and all, a good game by the Yankees last night and I'm hoping the crap from Friday is now washed away. Good one Yankees, good one AJ.

Final Score: Yankees 7 - Mets 3.
